The purpose of the Eastern Pennsylvania Down Syndrome Center is to provide comprehensive medical evaluations of infants, children, adolescents and adults with Down syndrome in a family centered model. The Center will also provide consultative services, provide medical services locally for persons with Down syndrome, and to serve as a community resource for families, service agencies, practitioners, and the general public.
Medical Services provided by the Eastern PA Down Syndrome Center include a comprehensive physical exam, the expertise of our two Coordinators and an on-site consultation by our Developmental/Occupational Therapist. If a child has gross motor delays that need to be addressed, a Physical Therapist, with an expertise in children with Down syndrome, will also be present at the evaluation. Any questions the family has before or during the appointment will be addressed at this time. Following the exam, medical recommendations are given to the family based on information gathered through the survey, medical records and information obtained the day of the visit.
Parents/Caregivers are also encouraged to call the office at any time with concerns not raised during the visit, or situations that arise between visits to the Center.
