Children's Hospital New Orleans Genetics and Metabolic Disorders
Mission
To provide comprehensive pediatric healthcare which recognizes the special needs of children through excellence and continuous improvement of patient care, education, research, child advocacy and management.
The Department of Genetics provides the diagnosis and management of a complete range of genetic disorders including:
- hereditary diseases
- congenital defects
- metabolic disorders
- genetic counseling
The department offers various specialty clinics, including birth defects, inborn errors of metabolism, connective tissue disorders, craniofacial/cleft lip/cleft palate, neurofibromatosis, and Down syndrome. The department is strong in dysmorphology and metabolic disorders providing metabolic-nutrition services and evaluation of abnormal newborn screenings.
